Borland Delphi makes the development of Windows applications easier than ever. Delphi and C++Builder provide a Borland Database Engine (BDE) to work with a great number of databases.
However, as any middleware, the BDE is an intermediate layer between your application and underlying database and such layers always have a performance penalty. When deploying BDE-based applications, you must include the BDE with your application. Wouldn't it be better for your projects to use a simple tool, that could expose all features of an underlying database and didn't require enormous DLLs to function?

Diamond Access is a set of Delphi components that provide high-speed performance when working with Microsoft Access databases. Diamond Access uses Data Access Objects 3.5/3.6 (DAO) to work directly with a Jet engine, providing the fastest possible interface to the Access databases.

Key features:

  • High speed - fast, native access to Jet databases without BDE.
  • Compatibility with standard and third-party Delphi data-aware controls.
  • True BDE alternative. Diamond Access doesn't emulate BDE behavior. It is a true Tdataset descendent.
  • Full access to DAO. It is possible to use an original DAO objects through component's properties.

Diamond ADO is a Delphi component library, that provide high-speed performance when working with any OLE DB provider or ODBC data source. Diamond ADO uses ActiveX Data Objects 2.X (ADO) to access data without requiring the BDE. Using Diamond ADO you can connect to any OLE DB provider. Currently OLE DB providers exists for SQL Server, Oracle, Access, ODBC, Active Directory Services and the Index Server.

Key features:

  • High speed - fast, native access to data without BDE.
  • Compatibility with standard Delphi data-aware components.
  • Complete BDE replacement. Diamond ADO doesn't emulate BDE behavior. It is a true TDataset descendent.
  • Full access to ADO. You can use the original ADO objects through component's properties.
